Karnak and Luxor Temples

The picture above is Karnak Temple pictured from behind the eastern gate. From here you look through to the first pylon, and across the river Nile to the Theban hills in the distance.

Below is a northern gate at the temple of Montu which is part of the Karnak complex.

Below is Luxor Temple pictured at dusk, from the roof restaurant at the Emilio Hotel. It is one of the more basic hotels, so we were amazed at their menu prices for both food and drink, to which they had the cheek to add taxes. Far too expensive, so we had a drink and a plate of chips between us which cost as much as a complete meal at the St Joseph, so wild horses would not be able to drag us back there.
