This young lad and his donkey were waiting for us one morning on the main bridge over the river Nile.

It's top eyelid had been ripped but the wound was a few hours too old to be stitched but if we removed it he would have no protection of this eye.

On our next visit it was clear to see that stitching it was the right decision. We wrapped it again to ensure that there were no problems with infection.

Ten days later with stitches removed and a new AWOL head collar he was fully recovered.
