This poor foal was trodden on by a water buffalo just after he was born and we had just got him over this when he suffered a rather large abscess on his leg.

We needed to treat and wrap the leg so we enlisted the help of the owner to hold him securely or he could do himself more damage whilst we treat him.

Mum was in sight of her foal at all times so that she wouldn't become distressed.

Catching problems early really makes such a difference to the
speed of recovery

As you can see he is growing quickly. The leg is healing well but it still needs to be kept wrapped for the time being.

With the rush over we
treat the last few animals
at one of our
regular stopping places.
