AWOL ~ October 2011 ~ Donkey Newsletter ~ Page 1 of 6
This little donkey had been tethered to his mother for safety but the owner used string that is much too fine. He was very upset to see the damage so brought both his donkeys to us.
We removed the string and treated the wound. An injection was needed so for the few seconds it took we had to hold the young donkey's ears for his own safety.
As a temporary measure we put a lose piece of webbing around the neck of the young donkey and tied the other end to his mother.
We have since made a special small head collar that will not hurt his nose but will allow him to be secured safely.
