AWOL ~ December 2011 ~ Donkey Newsletter ~ Page 1 of 6

Even donkeys need a dentist from time to time, and they dislike it just as much as we do, even if it is for their own good.

Donkeys teeth continue to grow and are usually ground down by the normal process of eating. Sometimes however, sharp points need to be removed with the help of a tooth rasp.

Our last tooth rasp had become very blunt, so our thanks go to AWOL supporter Jean Heley who arranged for us to receive five new tooth rasps, with which we will be able look after the donkeys teeth in the AWOL area throughout 2012.

Having all been treated by AWOL they will soon be heading for home.

It has been a lot of work but this donkey is now fully healed. Treatment for fistulous withers is long, time consuming and quite costly, but results like this make all the effort so worth while.

He was featured in our August 2011 Donkey Newsletter if you would like to read more.
