May Pageant
The picture on the right shows Jan with Jake on the AWOL stall at the Walton-on-the-Hill, May Pageant, 17 May. Click on the picture to see a larger image.
Despite there being torrential rain most of the day and a poor turnout, AWOL raised £100 on the stall, mainly from the Teddy Tombola. Our thanks to Donna Scivier, Amy and Dawn for all of their help. It was lovely to have a chance to chat to some very nice people and our special thanks go to:
PAM TURNER - Who has 3 arab rescue horses, and 3 dogs, and has donated to AWOL many bits and pieces of horse tack to sell.
JUDY BENNET - Who very kindly has given me a car full of bric a brac etc for our stalls. I am so grateful for it.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank CLIVE MAGUIRE - Judy's neighbour, who came to say hello when we were putting the things in the car and SUE WOOD who helps the Brooke as well as a Great Dane Rescue Charity for their generous donations and also my vet for approximately £800 of urgently needed Frontline that will be arriving in Luxor on the 4th June.
Don't forget JUDI GROSSMAN's hard work for the animals and book your tickets to the AWOL Ball, full details are on last months AWOL Newsletter.
School is Out in Luxor
Well here in Luxor the schools have now closed for the summer and most do not reopen until around the middle of September. Do Click on the picture on the left to see a larger image. Pauline, Sabine and Sheila each have a donkey requiring their attention whilst Graham attempts to entertain the children.
All very good natured but it is becoming just so hot to work. We had hoped to have been able to sort out the land so we could work under temporary cover by now but things have a pace of their own here. We continue to see so many donkeys that need help and with the children out of school we are seeing many more puppies than before.
AWOL supporter and good friend, Sheila, was here and helping daily with the animals and making much needed equipment for two and a half weeks. When she left on the 14th Ed and Tony arrived for 2 weeks. Its been great having the extra help especially as neither Sabine or Graham were particularly well during the month but both are almost back to full health now. Hurry back everybody .... please!
Please become part of the team.
