1st AWOL Summer Ball

Well after all the planning and worry of organising the 1st AWOL Summer Ball everybody had a great time, so much so that the venue for the 2nd AWOL Summer Ball has already been booked for Saturday 27th June 2009 so ensure that you note this date in your diary as there are only:

Here in Luxor it was easy for us as all the pressure of organisation fell on AWOL UK Trustees and supporters and especially Jan and Judi. It really was a large undertaking as AWOL hasn't been going a year yet and there were many costs that AWOL had to meet, like the hiring of the venue, food and entertainment without knowing how many supporters would be able to come.

From the e-mails we have received it was a total success and as one supporter said and everybody seemed to agree with "the belly dancer Debbie was fantastic, and it was great to hear her Egyptian music and watch her very professional show" which she did free of charge for AWOL so from us all a very big thank you.

The MC for the evening was Judi's husband Irvine who after the curry night was back by popular request and will most certainly be asked to MC again.

The meal, prize draw and other entertainments exceeded all expectations and raising over £700 on the evening to help the animals of the west bank of Luxor is a marvelous feat. Obviously we can't thank everybody who helped make the evening such a success but we really do appreciate your support. Thank you one and all.
