This elderly gentleman came up to one of our regular AWOL stopping points asking for help. He had tied the control ropes (reins) so that his homemade head collar cut across the eye of his donkey. We could have corrected it but as he had used metal over the nose AWOL changed the complete head collar as can be seen in the next picture. |

The AWOL head collar is a good fit and clear of the donkey's eyes. We always take away the old head collar so that it cannot be used on another animal. |

It was lovely to actually meet AWOL supporter, Vanessa, who was able to come out with us to help the children with their dogs and of course several donkeys. We had many supporters visit us this month. We really appreciate everybody's support and we were so pleased to be able to show you what AWOL does at first hand. |

| Whilst AWOL was helping a donkey owner solve a problem an old friend turned up. Remember the "Happy Hound" story from our November 2007 Newsletter - If not Click Here to read the original story. Well she is still happy and the children really do look after her. We often stop and see them and today we changed the old collar for a new one as the plastic clip had become rather brittle in the heat. |

We were on our way home when we came across this poor donkey. We really dislike the use of this thin nylon string but for the locals it is readily available, is cheap and very strong. |

|
Pauline and Sabine located the owner and with his permission changed the head collar. He is more than happy with the AWOL head collar and very appreciative. We were just happy for the donkey that AWOL was there, thanks to your support. |
