This is Carter's house which is where Howard Carter lived when he was in Luxor.
Howard Carter was born in Kensington, London in 1874 and died at the age of 64 in 1939 back home in Kensington. He is remembered for the discovery of the tomb of the boy king Tutankhamun in 1922. |

This is the darkroom where Carter and Burton saw the pictures of Tutankhamun and his treasures for the very first time. Harry Burton took just under 2000 pictures of the tomb and its contents. |

On the right is Howard Carter's easel as he was a very good artist, and for some while when he couldn't work in the Valley of the Kings, he made his living by painting.
On the left is Harry Burton's camera that he took the vast majority of his famous pictures of Tutankhamun's treasures on, such as the one shown below. |

Harry Burton took this picture of Howard Carter Examining the innermost gold coffin of Tutankhamun in October 1925.
This and so many other great photographs, would have been developed and printed in the darkroom in Howard Carter's house. |

The little cinema has a 3D visual of "Carter" telling you his story and showing you a few lantern slides of the photographs taken by Harry Burton.
It is an excellent place to visit
so when in Luxor
do go and enjoy. |
