31st May 2008
You know what it is like, some months there is little to say and some months, like this one, you just don't know where to stop as so much has happened. The month started with Graham's protracted birthday celebrations though on his actual birthday, the 3rd, we had a hard and very sad day with AWOL so we decided to postpone celebrations until the 4th and had an absolutely wonderful time in Genesis at Kanak where Gamel and Julia made it really special. The birthday was extended and another day Sheila and Graham went to Medinet Habu whilst I went to see old friends at the Iberotel and then we all met up for lunch at Africa.
Sheila arrived the day Alison left and stayed with us from Monday 28th April until Wednesday 14th May and would you believe it but Paul and Ed's plane landed just 2 hours after Sheila's left. This is all very good news for Animal Welfare Of Luxor as they have all given so much time to help the animals that we have managed to get ahead with the head collars and help so many more animals out in El Marise. The AWOL Summer Ball is coming up so do have a look at the AWOL Newsletter and come along if you can as we really expect it will be a super evening and everybody will be there (except for us of course).
Whilst Sheila was here we managed to find the time to visit the Rammesseum which was a super day and to visit our friends on the Theban hills so that we could take Rabat her 1st birthday presents. Sheila, Sabine and we were made so welcome and we all had a lovely time.
This year seems to be much warmer than normal but we are not complaining as we would much rather have the heat than the cold but as the sun sets the inside of our patio (which we call the D as that is its shape) it is just too hot so we have had curtains fitted and they are wonderful. After a hard day out with the animals it is lovely to sit outside and if we have any energy left, play a game of Scrabble.
Pauline's birthday was on the 23rd but friends will know that we actually celebrate it on the 24th for personal reasons but this year Graham really wasn't well. We were both going with Paul and Ed to Medinet Habu and coming back to the villa for lasagne but after visiting the temple Graham went to bed and couldn't face the lasagne so he must have been really poorly. Only now, right at the end of the month is he feeling a little better.
We are looking forward to good friends Tony and Kay arriving back in Luxor early in June.
If you would like to meet up when you come over we would love see you but we only have a very small amount of free time. Click Here for a page you can print off with our contact details and where you can meet us. Thank you all for the bits you have brought over but if you have any room in your case we would still like a tin or four of Homepride Curry Sauce as we just can't get enough of this, Branston Pickle or horseradish sauce. We also still need some original cream Jif or Cif or whatever they call it now as cream cleaners are just not available in Luxor. We will of course pay you for anything you bring and don't forget the wish list on the Animal Welfare Of Luxor web site for items needed to help the animals.
