Looking back at November 2009

Well it was a happy and also a sad start to the month. Happy that mum and dad arrived on the 28th October and also that Alison returned on the same day but sad that after four weeks Kay went home to the UK on the 2nd and Lluís and Teresa returned to Cairo for their flight to Barcelona on the 4th after spending a month in Egypt. We had some great times though we can't believe how quickly the time went but do look forward to their return. It was lovely also meeting up with Simon and Chantal who came and went in the blink of an eye so do hurry back and Jan who still has another week here but is already booked to come back early next year which is really great as we always enjoy our time.

Like last month November has also been incredibly busy not only with our normal AWOL duties but also with so many friends and AWOL supporters here in Luxor along with clearing up the amazing amount of mess created daily by the builders but we are pleased to say that as we start December cleaning up after the builders is just about a thing of the past.

Whilst mum and dad were here the rendering of the outside walls was completed and that really finished the most mess by volume but whilst this was going on and for a another 10 days the walls, inside and outside were all filled, rubbed down and painting started creating that very fine dust that gets everywhere. The marble work tops for the kitchen were fitted and looked lovely for at least five minutes before being covered in splattered paint and lumps of filler. By the 11th, the day mum and dad left, the outside of the building was fully painted and the 2nd floor was completely tiled.

We haven't had much time for socialising but did have a lovely day with mum, dad and Alison where we visited the tomb of Pabasa, had lunch at Africa and went to a lovely garden afterwards.

Facebook or rather no facebook as though we joined only a few months ago hoping to promote AWOL we have now closed our account as the amount of junk mail we received went through the roof and we couldn't really see any purpose for it as we have this, our web site, and e-mail friends directly.
