TT 1 - Tomb of Sennedjem

www.egypt-on-line.co.uk

TT. 1 - Sennedjem was overseer of works and his tomb is just a few paces from where he lived. Opened in 1886 and found to be intact, though regrettably the contents were distributed before everything was properly recorded. Due to the lack of space, tombs in the workers village were often reused by the same family over a long period of time, twenty bodies were found in Sennedjem's.

Your ticket, which you must purchase from the main ticket office, includes access to the workers village, the ptolemaic temple at the far end of the village as well as the Theban tomb of Inherkhau - TT. 359.

The visitors entrance to Sennedjem's tomb is on the left in this picture. Originally there would have been a small courtyard and a pyramid similar to the tomb behind.

The steps down to the tomb are steep and quite narrow. You enter the small tomb through a low and narrow doorway.
