The rock in this section of the Theban hills is unsuitable for bas relief so the walls were smoothed with mud plaster with a top coat of gypsum.

This shows very clearly how the design was marked on the walls in red (natural iron oxide) ready for the artists to come along with their colours but for some unknown reason this tomb was never finished.
